V. C. Sajjanar felicitated the police and prosecution team for securing strict punishment against the accused in the sensational kidnapping and murder case of an eight-year-old boy that shocked Sanathnagar three years ago.

The honour ceremony was held at the Commissionerate office in Basheerbagh, where Public Prosecutor G.V. Ramakrishna Rao, Investigation Officer M. Muthu Yadav, Sanathnagar SHO D. Ashok, SI Abdul Hayyum, and Court Duty Officer N. Shekhar were specially recognized for their efforts.

Recently, the III Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Principal Family Court Judge of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, M. Venkateswara Rao, delivered a landmark judgment awarding the death penalty to the prime accused for the brutal murder of the child. The second accused was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for destruction of evidence.

According to police, the main accused, Imran Ali Khan alias Fiza (A1), kidnapped eight-year-old Abdul Wahid Khan on April 20, 2023, due to financial disputes and personal vengeance. The accused had allegedly lent ₹1 lakh to the victim’s father, Wasim Khan, and committed the crime over non-repayment of the amount.

The accused strangled the child to death inside his residence. Later, with the help of Mohammed Rafiq, the body was stuffed into a bucket and dumped in a nearby drain. The second accused assisted in hiding the body and destroying evidence.

The case was cracked after Sanathnagar police examined CCTV footage, which clearly revealed the movements of the accused.

The court sentenced Imran Ali Khan alias Fiza to death penalty along with a ₹10,000 fine. He was also awarded life imprisonment for kidnapping and an additional seven years of rigorous imprisonment for destruction of evidence. Mohammed Rafiq was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for destroying evidence.

Speaking on the occasion, CP Sajjanar said the judgment serves as a strong warning against such inhuman crimes. He stated that the recently established “Investigation Monitoring Cell,” under the supervision of DCP Crimes S. Chaitanya Kumar and OSD Malla Reddy, played a key role in ensuring justice for the victim’s family.
