CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad. The historic Tank Bund in Hyderabad was filled with patriotic fervour as a grand Tiranga Rally was organised on August 14 as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, ahead of Independence Day.
The rally was organised from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue near Telugu Talli Flyover to the Swami Vivekananda statue on Tank Bund. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched the rally and called upon citizens, particularly students and voluntary organisations, to actively participate in Independence Day celebrations and uphold national unity and integrity.
Students, employees and people from different parts of Hyderabad participated in large numbers, proudly carrying the Tricolour. With hundreds of national flags waving along the iconic Tank Bund, the entire stretch was transformed into a vibrant display of patriotism. Speaking on the occasion, participants recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which encourages citizens across the country to proudly hoist the National Flag at their homes. The 2026 campaign is being conducted ahead of Independence Day on August 15.
The event also paid tribute to the spirit of those who sacrificed their lives for the National Flag. On the occasion, the sacrifice of Sama Jagan Mohan Reddy, an ABVP activist associated with Kakatiya University, was remembered as a symbol of dedication to the Tricolour and the nation.
The massive participation of students, employees and citizens turned Tank Bund into a spectacular sea of saffron, white and green, reflecting the spirit of patriotism, national unity and pride in the Indian flag.
The celebrations are part of the wider Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, which seeks to encourage citizens to make the National Flag a symbol of collective participation in Independence Day celebrations. The campaign continues through August 15.
