CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Statues of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule in Hyderabad

Hyderabad | CityLightBuzz: Telangana Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy unveiled the statues of renowned social reformers and education pioneers Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule at the HMD&A Grounds opposite Necklace Road in Hyderabad. Following the unveiling, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes to the legendary Phule couple and recalled their historic contribution to social reform, education, equality, women’s empowerment and social justice. Mahatma Jyotirao Phule dedicated his life to challenging caste discrimination, social inequality and injustice. Along with his wife Savitribai Phule, he played a pioneering role in promoting education among women and disadvantaged communities. Savitribai Phule is widely remembered as one of India’s pioneering women educators and a prominent champion of women’s education and social equality. The couple’s efforts to expand access to education and challenge social discrimination continue to inspire generations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of carrying forward the ideals of the Phule couple and building a society based on education, equality, dignity and social justice. He said their progressive vision remains relevant in the present day.
The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister Konda Surekha, TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, MP M. Anil Kumar Yadav and GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, among other public representatives and leaders.
Several MLAs, including Danam Nagender, Naveen Yadav, Muta Gopal, Kaleru Venkatesh and Beerla Ilaiah, also participated in the programme.
Government Whip Adi Srinivas, Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, BC Welfare Commissioner B. Bala Maya Devi and Collector Hari Chandana Dasari were also among the officials and leaders associated with the programme.
A large number of public representatives, government officials, community leaders and members of various social organisations participated in the event and paid their respects to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule.
The unveiling of the statues is being seen as a tribute to the Phule couple’s enduring legacy and their remarkable contribution towards women’s education, social equality and the upliftment of marginalized communities.
