HYDRA has intensified its focus on flood-prone areas in Krishnanagar (Jubilee Hills constituency), taking up key measures to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon.

A. V. Ranganath personally inspected the ongoing desilting works and directed officials to remove slabs obstructing drainage flow and speed up operations in coordination with GHMC.

He also ordered the installation of iron grills in areas where slabs have been removed to prevent accidents. Officials were instructed to ensure complete clearance of silt and blockages to allow smooth water flow and avoid flooding issues.

The Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction over delays by contractors and made it clear that all pending works must be completed on priority before the monsoon. HYDRA has also taken over certain works to accelerate progress.

In addition, focus has been placed on improving drainage flow from Jubilee Hills and Venkatagiri areas, including plans to advance the construction of the main stormwater canal without affecting metro infrastructure.

The inspection also covered Malkam Lake near Sheikhpet–Gachibowli highway, where issues with inlets, outlets, and sluice gates were reviewed. Officials were directed to complete desilting within a week, widen outlets, and ensure proper water flow to prevent recurring floods. Advanced robotic technology will be used to clear underground pipelines.
