KTR Condemns Removal of Peddi Sudarshan Reddy Statue, Demands Immediate Action

CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad. BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly condemned the overnight removal of the statue of Telangana movement activist and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy in Narsampet, describing the action as “brutal” and alleging that the Congress government had demonstrated its authoritarian approach. Reacting to the incident on Tuesday, KTR alleged that the statue was removed late at night by deploying police personnel and claimed that officials acted to please Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
KTR questioned why the Congress government was allegedly disturbed by the installation of Peddi Sudarshan Reddy’s statue in Narsampet and demanded that the government immediately reconsider the decision.
KTR Condemns Arrests of BRS Leaders
KTR also criticised the alleged arrests and house detentions of BRS leaders and workers who planned protests across the erstwhile Warangal district against the removal of the statue.He alleged that the Congress government was adopting methods similar to those used by governments during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era and said suppressing democratic protests and people’s rights was unacceptable.
KTR criticised the alleged detention of Legislative Council Opposition Leader Sirikonda Madhusudhanachari, former Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, former MLA Nannapuneni Narender, senior party leaders and former corporation chairpersons Nagurla Venkanna and Marri Yadava Reddy, along with BRS leaders and workers from various mandals of the Narsampet constituency.
Demand for Unconditional Release
KTR demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all BRS leaders and workers who were arrested or detained.
He warned that the BRS would not tolerate the alleged filing of cases against party leaders and workers for participating in democratic protests.
KTR also appealed to the authorities not to cause further distress to the family of Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, who is still mourning his death.
“Peddi’s Legacy Will Be Preserved”
KTR said the BRS would return to power in the future and promised that Narsampet Medical College would be named after Peddi Sudarshan Reddy.
He said the party would work to ensure that Peddi Sudarshan Reddy’s contribution and struggle would receive permanent recognition and that his legacy would continue to inspire the people of Narsampet and Telangana.
