Seoul, South Korea: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Yokota Takeshi, President of Power Systems PU at Hyosung Heavy Industries Corporation, at the company’s headquarters in Seoul.

During the meeting, Minister Lokesh said the Andhra Pradesh Government currently has a transmission network worth ₹8,000 crore and is working towards a 15 GW transmission roadmap by 2034, with a target of achieving 160 GW of clean energy. He noted that the government has approved the 7,248 MW Kovvada Nuclear Power Project, which, along with other infrastructure projects, will require a large number of 765/800 kV transformers, GIS, and STATCOM equipment.

He highlighted that the expansion of power infrastructure to support the state’s industrial growth would create significant demand for electrical equipment. In this context, he invited Hyosung Heavy Industries to establish a switchgear and electrical equipment manufacturing or assembly unit near Tirupati or Sri City.

Responding to the proposal, Yokota Takeshi said that Hyosung T&D India Pvt. Ltd., located in Khed City, Pune, has been operating in India since 2006. He noted that it is the only company in India manufacturing 66–800 kV GIS equipment. He assured the minister that the company would examine the Andhra Pradesh Government’s proposal for setting up a manufacturing facility in the state.
