CityLightBuzz.Com: Former Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy Demands Withdrawal of Urea Booking App
Former Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy criticized the Telangana Government over the urea booking system, alleging that it has failed to address farmers’ problems.
He said the government has become insensitive to the plight of farmers, forcing them to hold mobile phones for urea bookings instead of farming in their fields. Farmers, who should be engaged in agricultural activities, are now waiting for urea bookings through an app, causing immense hardship.
Niranjan Reddy alleged that many farmers are unable to secure urea through the app and accused the government of claiming success despite failing to ensure timely fertilizer supply. He said introducing an app instead of guaranteeing adequate urea availability is shameful.
He further criticized the government’s claim that the app has curbed irregularities and black marketing, calling it proof of administrative failure. If urea is still being diverted to the black market, he questioned what the government machinery is doing to prevent it.
The former minister alleged that the government is deliberately failing to provide irrigation water, electricity, and fertilizers on time, leading to a reduction in cultivated area. According to him, reduced cultivation would result in lower crop production, allowing the government to avoid large-scale crop procurement.
He claimed that while farmers lived with dignity during the KCR government, they are now forced to plead with officials for crop procurement under the Congress government.
Demanding immediate action, Niranjan Reddy urged the government to withdraw the app-based urea booking system, ensure adequate fertilizer stocks at retail outlets, and restore the previous method of urea distribution.
