Former Minister V. Srinivas Goud calls for independent rights for community trusts and a nationwide OBC caste census with unique caste codes.
HYDERABAD: Former Telangana Minister V. Srinivas Goud has demanded that the state government immediately repeal GO No. 14 concerning the management of BC community Atma Gaurava Bhavans and grant complete administrative and operational powers to the respective community trusts.
He was speaking at a round-table meeting organised by the BC Public Representatives Forum at the Hyderabad Press Club in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, to discuss the state government’s GO No. 14. The meeting was chaired by Munnuru Kapu Association President Purushottam and attended by former MLA Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, representatives of various political parties and leaders from 42 BC community organisations.
Addressing the gathering, Srinivas Goud stated that the previous BRS government had allotted 82 acres of land in the heart of Hyderabad for the construction of Atma Gaurava Bhavans for BC communities, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹200 crore per acre.
He said that ₹95.25 crore had already been released for construction works. While two community buildings had been completed, some were under construction and tenders had been finalised for others. He urged the government to expedite pending tenders, complete ongoing projects and release an additional ₹95 crore to accelerate construction.
He strongly objected to government interference in the administration of these buildings and demanded permanent rights for the respective community trusts over the allotted lands and constructed buildings. He said the trusts should have complete freedom to organise meetings, conduct activities and manage their properties without unnecessary government permissions.
Srinivas Goud also questioned the alleged disparity in land allotments, pointing out that certain other institutions and organisations had received land at nominal rates, while BC community organisations were being subjected to additional restrictions.
He further expressed concern over the delay in the construction of Goud Bhavan, stating that despite the foundation ceremony being attended by BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, construction had reportedly not commenced even after three years.
On the issue of social justice, he demanded a nationwide OBC caste census and called for unique identification codes for every OBC community during the census process. He said scientifically collected caste data was essential to ensure a fair share for BCs in education, employment and political representation.
Former MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav also demanded the immediate withdrawal of GO No. 14 and urged the Congress government to fulfil the assurances made in the Kamareddy Declaration. He stressed the need to strengthen political representation, social justice and self-respect for BC communities.
Presiding over the meeting, Purushottam called for unity among all BC community organisations and demanded an independent decision-making system for their trusts, free from political interference.
Several BC leaders and representatives from different community organisations participated in the meeting and called for collective action to protect the rights and interests of BC communities.
