CityLightBuzz: Karimnagar, Telangana, Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao warned the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy that the BJP would continue an uncompromising struggle until pending fee reimbursement and scholarship funds are released to students across the state.
The warning came during the “Fee Dues – BJP Ladayi” Maha Dharna, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Karimnagar, demanding immediate resolution of the fee reimbursement and scholarship issues faced by students.Ramchander Rao attended the protest as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. BJP State Vice President Shanti Kumar, BJYM State President Ganesh Kunder, District President Sayini Mallesham, City Mayor Srinivas, Deputy Mayor Sunil Rao, former MLA Bodige Shobha, along with thousands of students and youth, participated in the protest. Speaking at the event, Ramchander Rao criticised the Revanth Reddy government, alleging that the Congress had promised a welfare-oriented government before the elections but had failed to address the financial difficulties faced by students.He alleged that while the previous government had accumulated approximately ₹8,000 crore in fee reimbursement arrears, the present Congress government had also failed to release the required funds. He claimed that following directions from the High Court, the state Cabinet decided to provide ₹2,000 crore as an advance,
but alleged that the amount had not yet been released.
According to Ramchander Rao, nearly 20 lakh students across Telangana are waiting for pending fee reimbursement payments. He alleged that educational institutions are facing financial difficulties due to non-payment of dues and are struggling to pay faculty salaries, with some institutions facing the possibility of closure.
He further said that students and parents were experiencing severe financial and mental stress due to the inability to pay educational fees. Ramchander Rao also criticised the Congress government’s implementation of the promises made under Rahul Gandhi’s Youth Declaration during the elections. He alleged that the government had failed to fulfil its commitments concerning students and youth. He assured students that the BJP would continue fighting on their behalf and would put pressure on the government until the pending fee reimbursement amounts and scholarships were released.
BJYM State President Ganesh Kunder’s Warning
BJYM State President Ganesh Kunder said that the BJYM had been conducting protests at the grassroots level for the past month demanding the release of scholarships
and the settlement of students’ fee reimbursement dues.
He criticised the alleged issuing of police notices to college managements and students in connection with the protests, calling the action unjustified. Ganesh Kunder warned that the student community would intensify its agitation if the government failed to address their legitimate demands. He said that the BJYM would consider laying siege to district Collectorates as part of the next phase of the movement.
He demanded that the Revanth Reddy government immediately release the pending fee reimbursement and scholarship funds. He further warned that if the government failed to resolve the issue, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should resign.The BJP and BJYM leaders reiterated that their agitation would continue until the pending financial assistance reaches the students and educational institutions.
