HYDERABAD: BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr. K. Sanjay addressed a media conference at Telangana Bhavan, highlighting farmers’ concerns, irrigation water availability, electricity supply and industrial development in Telangana.
Speaking at the press meet, Padi Kaushik Reddy said the state government must take immediate steps to protect farmers from drought-like conditions. Referring to the Medigadda barrage, he alleged that the government had failed to utilise available Godavari water effectively, causing difficulties for farmers.
He questioned the government’s approach towards irrigation and demanded that water be lifted from Medigadda to support agricultural activities wherever feasible. He also urged the government not to declare a crop holiday without adequately addressing farmers’ concerns.
Kaushik Reddy demanded compensation of ₹50,000 per acre for farmers whose crops have dried up due to water shortages. He further stated that farmers were facing additional financial burdens due to the need to purchase water through private tankers.
He recalled the irrigation initiatives undertaken during the previous BRS government under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and stressed the importance of ensuring timely water supply to agricultural lands.
Speaking at the same press conference, BRS MLA Dr. K. Sanjay raised concerns over electricity supply, industrial growth and infrastructure development in the state.
He stated that Telangana must ensure uninterrupted power supply to industries and address the challenges faced by businesses. He also highlighted the importance of retaining existing industries and attracting new investments to strengthen the state’s economy.
Dr. Sanjay questioned the government’s priorities, stating that greater attention should be given to essential infrastructure, water resources and industrial development alongside major investment summits.
He also referred to the power generation capacity developed during the previous BRS government and called for effective utilisation of available electricity resources to meet the needs of industries and the public.
Further, he raised concerns over urban infrastructure development in Hyderabad, including flyovers and other public facilities. He stressed the need for faster implementation of infrastructure projects and better civic amenities.
Both leaders called upon the state government to prioritise farmers’ welfare, irrigation, drinking water, uninterrupted electricity and industrial development.
Former Corporation Chairman Dr. Chirumalla Rakesh Kumar also participated in the press conference at Telangana Bhavan.
