CityLightBuzz: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Hyderabad District Council on Wednesday launched a statewide Padayatra and public awareness campaign as part of the party’s national call to protest against the policies of the BJP-led Central Government.
The rally was flagged off by CPI Telangana State Assistant Secretary ET Narasimha, who led the march from the Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Statue to the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue. CPI workers carrying red flags, dressed in red shirts and sarees, marched through the city accompanied by cultural performances from the Praja Natya Mandali.
During the campaign, party leaders distributed Telugu and English pamphlets highlighting what they described as the failures of the Central Government.
Addressing the gathering, ET Narasimha alleged that the Narendra Modi-led government had lost the trust of the people after over a decade in power. He claimed that farmers, workers, unemployed youth, Dalits, and tribal communities have been protesting against the Centre’s policies for several years.
He also criticized the government’s handling of democratic protests, alleging misuse of stringent laws against journalists, students, and activists, and expressed concern over the functioning of constitutional institutions. Referring to the recent Gen Z protests, he claimed that the movement had significantly impacted the government’s public image.
ET Narasimha further warned that governments which ignore public sentiment eventually face strong democratic resistance, urging the Centre to adopt people-centric policies. He said that if corrective measures are not taken, more public movements could emerge in the coming years.
Several CPI leaders, including Hyderabad District Secretary Stalin, Assistant Secretary Kamatham Yadagiri, Praja Natya Mandali State Secretary Palle Narasimha, and other district leaders and activists participated in the rally.
