CityLightBuzz: In a remarkable humanitarian gesture, employees of the Telangana Prohibition & Excise Department came together to support the family of a deceased outsourcing employee by providing financial assistance of ₹3.46 lakh. Late Chirra Ekambaram, who was working as a Data Entry Operator on an outsourcing basis in the Revenue (Excise) Department at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest on July 8.
Moved by the family’s situation, members of the Telangana Prohibition & Excise Gazetted Officers’ Association, Non-Gazetted Ministerial Staff Association, and Executive Employees’ Associations voluntarily contributed towards a relief fund. The total amount of ₹3,46,000 was handed over to the deceased employee’s wife, Mrs. Swapna Latha, by Excise Commissioner Hari Kiran, IAS, during a programme held at Excise Bhavan.
Demonstrating his humanitarian concern, Commissioner Hari Kiran also personally extended financial assistance to the bereaved family.
According to association leaders T. Lakshman Goud and Chandrasekhar, the Excise Gazetted Officers’ Association contributed ₹2.75 lakh, while the Ministerial Staff contributed ₹71,000 towards the relief fund. The Excise Commissioner appreciated the generosity and compassion shown by the department’s employees in standing by the family of a colleague who passed away while serving with dedication. The programme was attended by Additional Excise Commissioner Yaseen Qureshi, Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner J. Hari Kishan, Excise officials K. Vijay Kumar, B. Praveen Kumar, M. Radha, Jayasudha, Soujanya, Non-Gazetted Association President Gnaneshwar, D. Tirupati, and other department staff. Employees’ JAC Appreciates the Initiative
The Telangana State Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) praised the Excise Department employees for their prompt and compassionate response in supporting the bereaved family. JAC President Jagadeeshwar, Secretary General Eluri Srinivasa Rao, and TGO General Secretary B. Shyam lauded the employees and association leaders for setting an example of solidarity and humanity. The JAC leaders also requested the Excise Commissioner to recommend to the Government that a suitable outsourcing job be provided to one of the deceased employee’s family members as compassionate assistance.
