Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy apologise to the people of Telangana, alleging that the state government has completely failed to ensure the safety and security of women. He said the government cannot escape responsibility for what he described as its failure to protect women and girls. Referring to the recent Shabad incident, KTR termed it a glaring example of the government’s failure. He alleged that the accused in a POCSO case was granted bail because the government failed to present a strong case in court, and claimed that this ultimately led to the tragic loss of six lives. He said the government must take responsibility for the incident. KTR expressed concern that women and girls in the state no longer feel safe and claimed that even victims’ families are afraid to come forward and lodge complaints. He described the six murders in Shabad as not merely criminal acts but as “government murders,” alleging that they resulted from administrative incompetence and negligence. Stating that the incident deeply disturbed him as the father of a daughter, KTR questioned whether the government had surrendered before the influence and financial power of the accused. He alleged that despite repeated appeals by the minor survivor and her family opposing the accused’s bail, the government failed to respond to their concerns. According to KTR, the Public Prosecutors did not effectively argue the seriousness of the case before the court, allowing the accused to secure bail.

KTR said the incident exposes serious shortcomings in the functioning of the Home Department and questioned why dangerous offenders accused in grave crimes are being released on bail. He demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy explain how such a situation was allowed to occur. He also questioned who would take responsibility for the six deaths in Shabad and said the government must be held accountable for the loss of lives. Recalling the previous BRS administration, KTR claimed that such incidents were dealt with swiftly when K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was Chief Minister. KTR further alleged that easy access to bail and ineffective prosecution are emboldening criminals. He warned that if such conditions continue, the Revanth Reddy government would bear responsibility for any future crimes against women. Calling for immediate action, KTR demanded that the government identify and act against those responsible, strengthen measures for women’s safety, and that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy publicly apologise to the people for what he described as the government’s failure to protect women in Telangana.
