Sircilla: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) congratulated Sircilla weaver Vijay for developing an innovative handloom loom using modern technology.
Responding to Vijay’s invitation, KTR visited his residence in Sircilla and inspected the newly developed handloom equipped with electronic Jacquard technology. KTR also formally unveiled the new loom and launched the special ‘Vendi Vennela’ saree woven on it.Modern Technology for Traditional Handloom
Vijay explained that Sircilla is primarily known for its powerloom industry, but efforts are being made to strengthen the handloom sector as well by adopting modern technology. He said handloom weaving once had a significant presence in Sircilla, but gradually declined with the expansion of powerlooms.
By integrating electronic Jacquard technology with traditional handlooms, Vijay and his team are now creating sarees with innovative designs. Special products, including gold and silver sarees, are being developed on these looms and are receiving a positive response from customers.
Vijay said customers are also willing to pay a premium for unique and specially designed sarees, helping handloom weavers generate additional income.
Electronic Jacquard Reduces Weaver’s Workload
According to Vijay, electronic Jacquard technology increases the speed of weaving while reducing the physical effort required from weavers.
The technology is particularly beneficial for women weavers, making the weaving process easier and enabling higher production with less physical strain.
He said bringing modern technology into the handloom sector can create better employment and income opportunities for weavers.
KTR Appreciates Weaver Vijay’s Innovation
KTR appreciated Vijay’s efforts to introduce new technology into the handloom sector and modernize traditional weaving practices.
He said adding modern technology to Sircilla’s handloom traditions and producing innovative products was highly commendable.
KTR noted that combining the skills and craftsmanship of handloom weavers with modern technology could help the sector achieve greater growth and recognition.
‘Vendi Vennela’ Saree Unveiled
Vijay said KTR has always supported and encouraged the handloom sector.
He recalled that KTR had earlier unveiled some of their innovative sarees, which received a good response from customers.
Vijay expressed his happiness that KTR once again unveiled their latest electronic Jacquard handloom along with the ‘Vendi Vennela’ saree created on the new loom.He said the goal is to develop Sircilla not only as a major powerloom centre but also as a hub for modern, technology-driven handloom weaving.
Vijay expressed confidence that combining the creativity and skills of Sircilla’s weavers with modern technology would help bring greater national recognition to the region’s handloom products.
