Don’t Target ‘Peddi’

Let’s abide by the Telugu Film Chamber’s decision Ready for an indefinite hunger strike if ‘Peddi’ is obstructed: Natti Kumar

Senior producer, distributor, and exhibitor Natti Kumar clarified that it is entirely unacceptable for the Exhibitors Association under the Telangana Film Chamber to create issues just as Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi is gearing up for release. Speaking at a press meet organized at his office in Hyderabad on Saturday evening, he stated, “It is surprising that exhibitors intentionally remembered their problems exactly at the time of Peddi‘s release.

In reality, single-theater owners are facing a few issues in both Telugu states. However, those should be resolved reasonably through discussions. Recently, to address the exhibitors’ demand to implement a percentage system, the Telugu Film Chamber intervened and formed a sub-committee comprising producers, distributors, and exhibitors. I appeal to them to reconsider how justifiable it is to agree to that committee, only to suddenly go back on their word and obstruct the Peddi movie.

If they cooperate with Peddi, I will personally ensure that some of their members are taken to Chiranjeevi at the right time to bring the exhibitors’ issues to his attention. Exhibitors from all areas in Andhra Pradesh are cooperating without creating any hurdles for the film. Similarly, Telangana exhibitors should understand the situation and extend their cooperation during the release of a big film.

It is noteworthy that the Telangana exhibitors who sat in Saturday’s press meet are either those who have leased out their theaters or those who have taken them on lease. The new President of the Telangana Film Chamber, Sekhar, has leased his theater to Sunil Narang. Similarly, Bala Govind Raju has obtained special permission for his theater. Behind these people are four major players: Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, and Sunil Narang. These four are the ones operating the leased theaters, and they are the ones pulling the strings behind all this.

It would be wonderful if a decision is made by Tuesday night to not obstruct the Peddi movie. If not, starting Wednesday, I will sit on a hunger strike unto death in front of the Film Chamber,” he declared.
