Nepal, You Are Not Alone” – Actor Appeals for Continued Relief and Rehabilitation
Kathmandu: Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has visited some of the worst flood-affected areas of Nepal and extended his support to families devastated by the catastrophic floods along the Trishuli River.
Sood arrived in Nepal with his Sood Charity Foundation team and relief supplies, including essential items for affected families. During his visit, he interacted with survivors, assessed the situation on the ground and witnessed the extensive destruction caused by the floods.Standing along the Trishuli River, Sood described the scale of destruction as unimaginable and expressed deep concern over families who had lost their homes and loved ones.
“Nepal is not alone. I stand with its people, and I will do everything I can to bring hope, rebuild homes, and help families begin again.”
Relief Efforts to Continue
Sood said that the devastation would require support not just for a few weeks, but potentially for months, as affected communities begin the difficult process of rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.
He also appealed to large corporations to come forward through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and contribute to Nepal’s recovery efforts.
The August 26 floods affected communities along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors after a sudden surge involving ice, rock, mud and debris. The disaster caused extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges, hydropower infrastructure and other essential facilities. The UNDP has estimated around 2.2 million tonnes of debris in the areas assessed, while Nepal has reported more than 1,000 deaths and thousands of people missing.
Sood also praised India’s humanitarian assistance to Nepal and called for continued international support to help the neighbouring country recover from the devastating disaster. A Message of Hope
Through his visit and relief activities, Sood said he hopes to help affected families regain stability and rebuild their lives.
“They lost their homes, their families, their childhood… but together, we will help them find a new beginning.
