Jogulamba Gadwal District, Telangana: Students of a government high school in Induvasi village of Gattu mandal stopped the convoy of former minister and BRS Legislature Party Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao to bring attention to the problems they are facing at their school and in their village. The students submitted a petition to Harish Rao, highlighting concerns over the quality of midday meals, the shortage of subject teachers and the lack of basic facilities at their school.
The students alleged that the midday meals served at the school were of poor quality and contained worms. They also complained that brinjal curry was being served repeatedly, expressing concern over the food provided to them.
They further stated that the absence of subject teachers was seriously affecting their education. The lack of basic facilities, they said, was creating difficulties for students and contributing to an increase in school dropouts.
The students also expressed distress over the severe drought conditions in their village, alleging that some children were being forced to discontinue their education and migrate with their parents in search of daily-wage employment.
Harish Rao patiently listened to the students’ grievances and assured them that he would bring their concerns and the condition of the school to the attention of the government and work towards finding solutions. The incident has drawn attention to concerns over school infrastructure, the quality of midday meals, teacher shortages and the impact of drought on the education of children in rural Telangana.
